Applicant tracking system

Industry

Almost always shortened to ATS. Common examples include Workday Recruiting, SAP SuccessFactors, Greenhouse and Lever.

An applicant tracking system (ATS) is the recordkeeping backbone of a hiring team. It publishes job postings, collects applications, parses résumés into searchable records, tracks each candidate's stage, coordinates interviews and keeps the compliance trail an employer needs.

For candidates, the ATS is the gate most applications pass through first, and many systems help recruiters filter or rank applicants by keywords and stated experience. That makes the ATS good at organising volume and weak at judging quality: it can only work with what a candidate claims on paper.

Hiring teams rarely replace an ATS. They add signals around it — assessments, work samples, verified credentials — that give recruiters something firmer than a résumé to act on.

On Ewance

Ewance is not an ATS and does not aim to replace one. It supplies evidence an ATS record usually lacks: work a candidate has actually done, graded against a rubric, with a credential a recruiter can verify without taking anyone's word for it. It is built to sit next to the tools hiring teams already run.
