Overview
What this challenge is about.
You receive 250 phone photos of the facade plus 6 ground control points measured by a surveyor (used only for metric scaling and validation, not for reconstruction). Run SfM to recover camera poses and a sparse point cloud, then MVS for a dense reconstruction, then Poisson surface reconstruction for a textured mesh. Scale the reconstruction using 3 of the 6 control points and validate against the remaining 3. Success is mean absolute error under 1.5 cm on the validation points, a watertight textured mesh, and a written one-page quality report a structural engineer can trust.
The Brief
What you'll do, and what you'll demonstrate.
Deliver a metric-scaled, textured 3D reconstruction of a heritage facade from phone photos, with documented sub-2cm accuracy.
Earning criteria — what you'll demonstrate
- Execute a full SfM + MVS pipeline on a real outdoor dataset
- Apply ground control points to convert arbitrary-scale reconstructions to metric units
- Diagnose reconstruction failure modes (texture-less regions, repeated patterns)
- Communicate geometric uncertainty to a non-vision audience
