1. The short version
The Ewance platform exists to help Students build real skills, build a portfolio of real work, and earn verifiable credentials — and to help Recruiters find them. This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") is the short list of things we ask everyone not to do, so that the Service stays useful and safe for all users.
This AUP is part of our Terms of Service. Violating it can result in your account being suspended or terminated.
If you see someone breaking these rules, please report it to [email protected].
2. Who this applies to
This AUP applies to every user of the Service — Students, Recruiters, visitors, and any other person accessing the platform.
It also applies to anything you submit through the Service, including challenge submissions, profile information, communications with other users, and any other content.
3. Things you must not do
3.1 Don't harm other users
You must not:
- Harass, bully, threaten, intimidate, or stalk any other user;
- Send abusive, hateful, or discriminatory messages, including content that targets people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, or other protected characteristics;
- Impersonate any person or organisation, including other users, our team, or partner organisations;
- Share sexually explicit content, content involving minors in any inappropriate way, or content depicting violence, self-harm, or abuse;
- Engage in any behaviour that could reasonably be described as predatory, exploitative, or harmful — especially toward younger or vulnerable users.
3.2 Don't break the law
You must not use the Service to:
- Commit, facilitate, or promote any unlawful activity;
- Violate intellectual property rights (copyright, trademarks, patents, trade secrets) of any person;
- Disclose confidential information you are not authorised to share, including information belonging to a previous employer or covered by an NDA;
- Violate any data protection or privacy law;
- Engage in fraud, including identity fraud, payment fraud, or misrepresenting yourself or your qualifications.
3.3 Don't break the platform
You must not:
- Use bots, scrapers, crawlers, or other automated tools to access the Service (except for public search engines crawling publicly accessible pages);
- Attempt to bypass any security, authentication, or access-control mechanism;
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Service;
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service except by reporting findings to [email protected] in advance (see Section 5);
- Introduce malware, viruses, trojans, worms, or any other harmful code;
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or the experience of other users — for example, by sending excessive requests, flooding, or attempting denial of service;
- Use the Service to mine cryptocurrency, run distributed computing tasks, or otherwise consume our resources for purposes unrelated to legitimate use of the Service.
3.4 Don't game the credential system
The integrity of LearnCoin-issued credentials depends on Students actually doing the work they are credentialed for. You must not:
- Submit work that is not your own — including AI-generated work passed off as your own, work copied from another Student, or work commissioned from someone else;
- Cheat, plagiarise, or fabricate submissions;
- Share challenge solutions in ways designed to enable others to cheat;
- Create multiple accounts to game the system, earn duplicate credentials, or evade restrictions;
- Misrepresent or alter credentials you have earned, or claim credentials you have not earned.
We may revoke credentials issued in violation of these rules. Repeated or serious violations may result in permanent loss of access to the Service.
3.5 Don't misuse the Service for marketing or solicitation
You must not use the Service to:
- Send unsolicited marketing, advertising, or promotional material to other users;
- Run contests, sweepstakes, or pyramid schemes;
- Solicit funds, donations, or business outside the legitimate purposes of the Service.
Recruiters: see the additional contact rules in Section 13.5 of the Terms of Service. Outreach to Students must relate to a genuine job opportunity, identify you and your organisation, and respect the Student's visibility and contact preferences.
3.6 Don't misuse Recruiter access
If you are a Recruiter, you must not:
- Use Student data for any purpose other than legitimate recruitment;
- Build, supplement, or train an AI model or dataset using Student data;
- Resell, sublicense, or share Student data with any third party;
- Discriminate against candidates in violation of applicable employment law;
- Contact Students who have not opted in to being contacted, or continue contacting Students who have asked you to stop.
3.7 Don't misrepresent yourself or your organisation
You must:
- Provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it accurate over time;
- Not pretend to be a Student if you are a Recruiter, or vice versa;
- Not pretend to represent an organisation that you do not actually represent;
- Not use a fake or borrowed identity.
4. What we will do
We monitor the Service for violations of this AUP. When we find a violation (or have a reasonable basis to suspect one), we may take any of the following actions, depending on the severity:
- Warn the user;
- Remove specific content;
- Restrict specific features of the user's account;
- Suspend the account temporarily;
- Terminate the account permanently;
- Revoke any credentials issued under fraudulent circumstances;
- Report the activity to appropriate authorities, where required by law or where serious harm is at stake.
We try to be proportionate. For minor or first-time violations, a warning is usually the starting point. For serious violations — especially anything involving harm to other users, fraud, or breach of credential integrity — we will act faster and more decisively.
5. Reporting and responsible disclosure
Reporting abuse
If you see another user violating this AUP, report it to [email protected]. Include enough detail for us to investigate (usernames, screenshots, dates, etc., where you can). We do not share the identity of reporters with the reported user.
Security issues
If you find a security vulnerability in the Service, please report it to [email protected] rather than exploiting it or making it public. We commit to:
- Acknowledging responsible reports promptly;
- Working in good faith to fix the issue;
- Not taking legal action against researchers who report in good faith.
6. Changes to this AUP
We may update this AUP from time to time, particularly as new patterns of misuse emerge. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be notified to users by email or through the Service.
