Analysis
Production Planning for a Sustainable Fashion Brand
Overview
What this challenge is about.
Your task is to build a linear program that decides weekly production quantities for each product line. Constraints include labor hours (max 400 hrs), machine hours (max 200 hrs), and material availability (cotton: 500 kg, polyester: 300 kg). Each product must contain at least 30% recycled polyester. Profit margins are given. Success means finding the optimal production mix and identifying which constraints are binding.
The Brief
What you'll do, and what you'll demonstrate.
Maximize weekly profit subject to resource constraints and sustainability requirements.
Earning criteria — what you'll demonstrate
- Formulate a product-mix linear program with multiple constraints
- Solve using simplex method (via software) and interpret results
- Perform sensitivity analysis on resource availability and costs
- Translate optimization results into business recommendations
