Architecture Evaluation via ATAM for a Healthcare Platform
Overview
What this challenge is about.
Run a 2-phase ATAM (Phase 1: present architecture + elicit quality-attribute goals + analyze approaches; Phase 2: broader stakeholder validation). Capture: business drivers, quality-attribute utility tree (availability, security, modifiability, performance), architecture approaches per node, and scenario-based analysis. Identify risks, non-risks, sensitivity points, and tradeoff points. Hold 4 sessions across 2 weeks. Deliver: utility tree (1-page poster), scenario catalog (around 25 scenarios), risk register, and a 12-page ATAM report with prioritized findings.
The Brief
What you'll do, and what you'll demonstrate.
Run an ATAM evaluation of a healthcare-data platform's architecture and produce a risk-prioritized report that scopes the upcoming rewrite.
Earning criteria — what you'll demonstrate
- Run a full ATAM workshop with cross-functional stakeholders
- Build a quality-attribute utility tree from business drivers down to scenarios
- Distinguish risks, non-risks, sensitivity points, and tradeoff points rigorously
- Translate ATAM findings into a defensible rewrite scope
