Redesign DataFlow's Architecture for Enterprise Sales. Advanced challenge in design. Designing real products under real constraints, earn a blockchain-verifi...
The Brief
What you'll do, and what you'll demonstrate.
Decide how to evolve a single-application, single-database SaaS platform into an architecture that can isolate tenants, pass compliance audits, and support enterprise integrations without a risky full rewrite.
This is not a design exercise. It is the work a product designer does between a brief and a shipped interface. That distinction matters to every hiring manager who has seen candidates redesign Spotify's homepage and none who have worked under real product constraints.
When you finish, you will have something most graduates do not: a real-world deliverable, verified by Ewance, that you can show to a hiring manager and say "I did this. Here is the proof."
Earning criteria — what you'll demonstrate
- Diagnose the scaling, isolation, and compliance limits of a shared-database monolith from concrete operational evidence
- Design a multi-tenant target architecture that balances isolation strength against operational cost
- Map regulatory and audit requirements (GDPR, SOC 2) to concrete architectural controls
- Plan an incremental monolith decomposition that keeps the business running during migration
- Communicate architectural trade-offs clearly enough to win buy-in from technical and business stakeholders

Completing this challenge demonstrates skills that transfer directly to these roles:
Solutions Architect
Designing a multi-tenant target system and defending its trade-offs mirrors the core of solutions architecture: translating customer and compliance demands into a concrete, scalable cloud design that engineering can build.
