Run an Incident-Response Tabletop for a Healthtech On-Call Team
Overview
What this challenge is about.
Design 3 tabletop scenarios with realistic timeline injects (every 5-10 minutes, new info arrives). Run the tabletop hybrid (in-person + remote) with the 8 on-call engineers + 2 EMs + 1 communications lead. Use the Incident Command System (ICS) roles (Incident Commander, Communications Lead, Subject Matter Expert). Score on: time to declare, time to first comms, time to first hypothesis, time to all-clear. Coach inline. Deliver the scenario pack, the recorded debrief, an updated incident runbook, and a 5-page 90-day improvement plan covering training cadence + runbook gaps.
The Brief
What you'll do, and what you'll demonstrate.
Design and run a tabletop exercise that measurably improves the on-call team's time-to-declare, comms cadence, and ICS role discipline across three realistic scenarios.
Earning criteria — what you'll demonstrate
- Design realistic tabletop scenarios that surface coordination gaps, not just technical ones
- Facilitate ICS-style incident response in a hybrid team
- Measure incident-response metrics (time to declare, time to comms) objectively
- Translate tabletop findings into runbook and training changes
