The Brief
What you'll do, and what you'll demonstrate.
Design a blockchain-based tokenization system for EcoToken's carbon credits that improves liquidity, transparency, and trust while preventing double-counting and complying with voluntary carbon market standards.
This is not a design exercise. It is the work a product designer does between a brief and a shipped interface. That distinction matters to every hiring manager who has seen candidates redesign Spotify's homepage and none who have worked under real product constraints.
When you finish, you will have something most graduates do not: a real-world deliverable, verified by Ewance, that you can show to a hiring manager and say "I did this. Here is the proof."
Earning criteria — what you'll demonstrate
- Translate a real business liquidity and trust problem into concrete blockchain design decisions
- Compare blockchain networks and token standards on cost, transparency, and regulatory fit rather than hype
- Design double-counting prevention that links on-chain tokens to off-chain registry serial numbers
- Implement and document a Solidity contract that enforces irreversible carbon-credit retirement
- Communicate a technical plan persuasively to both auditors and non-technical executives

Completing this challenge demonstrates skills that transfer directly to these roles:
Blockchain Solutions Consultant
This challenge mirrors real client engagements where you translate a business pain into a defensible technical architecture, justify network and token choices, and present them to executives — the core work of advising firms on whether and how to adopt blockchain.

Smart Contract Engineer
Building and documenting a mint-transfer-retire contract with audited libraries and irreversible state changes is exactly the day-to-day of engineers who ship production token contracts and must reason about security and edge cases.
