Hire ahead of the market
The Index shows which capabilities are accelerating fastest across learning and hiring — so talent teams can source for the skills the market is about to demand, not the ones everyone is already fighting over.
- Spot skills surging in demand before they saturate every job posting.
- Benchmark your talent pipeline against where hiring is heading next.
- Read the interest-ahead-of-demand signal — the early warning for emerging roles.
- Anchor sourcing and employer-brand strategy in what is actually rising.

How it's built
A signal, not a hunch
The ranking blends several live market signals so a skill rises because it's genuinely emerging — not just briefly trending.
- Trajectory — five-year growth in real-world interest, weighted highest and seasonality-smoothed.
- Interest ahead of demand — where attention is running ahead of hiring — the early signal.
- Magnitude — so tiny-absolute noise can’t top the list.
Current hiring demand is an eligibility floor, not a reward — rewarding it would bias the list toward skills that are already mainstream.

FAQ
Ewance Emerging Skills Index — FAQs
What is the Ewance Emerging Skills Index?
It's a data-led ranking of the skills accelerating fastest across learning and hiring, built from live market signals. The 2026 edition is the inaugural, US-focused report; regional editions for DACH and Spain/LATAM follow.
What's in it for recruiters?
It shows which skills are surging in demand before they saturate every job posting — so talent teams can source ahead of the market, benchmark their pipeline against where hiring is heading, and build employer-brand and sourcing strategy around skills that are genuinely rising.
How is it built — what is the methodology?
Each skill is scored on a composite of five-year search-interest growth (weighted highest — the core "emerging" signal), interest ahead of hiring demand, and search-interest magnitude, then rank-normalised. Current hiring demand is an eligibility floor, not a score reward, so the list surfaces what is emerging rather than what is already established. We screened 707 skills; 387 cleared the floor.
How do I get the full ranking and dataset?
The full Top 25, all 387 ranked skills, and the domain breakdowns are in the report. Complete the form to receive it — it’s free; we just ask who you are so we can share relevant follow-ups.
What is the geographic scope?
The 2026 edition is US-based. Regional editions — DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and Spain/LATAM — follow, each built from that market’s own signals rather than translated.
