Interactive Figma Prototype for a Wealth-Onboarding Flow
Overview
What this challenge is about.
Master Figma, design systems, and interactive prototyping by redesigning a real fintech onboarding flow. Build portfolio-ready UX work and earn a blockchain-verified credential that proves you can do production-level design work — not just describe it.
The Brief
What you'll do, and what you'll demonstrate.
A UK challenger bank — FCA-regulated, backed by a US growth fund — needs to validate its wealth-management onboarding flow before engineering build begins in 8 weeks. Their external contractor delivered a static Figma file. It looks polished, but it cannot be tested with real users. No error states. No microinteractions. No way to surface the friction points that cause drop-off in a regulated financial onboarding.
You step in as the product designer. Your job: take that static file and turn it into a research-ready interactive prototype that a moderated usability test can actually use — covering happy-path journeys, realistic failure scenarios, and the kind of microinteractions that reveal where users stumble.
This is not a redesign exercise. It is the work a real product designer does between "the screens exist" and "we can test them with users." That distinction matters to every hiring manager who has seen candidates redraw Spotify's homepage and none who have wired a prototype for a regulated usability test.
Earning criteria — what you'll demonstrate
- Restructure inherited static design files into research-ready interactive prototypes
- Apply Figma variables to enforce design tokens across multi-screen flows
- Design microinteractions and error states that mimic real user friction
- Hand off prototypes engineering teams can build from without ambiguity

Strong alignment
This challenge maps to User Interface Design and Prototyping at the Master level. It sharpens the same practical skills your coursework expects — but in a real industry context with actual constraints and deliverables.
Skills
Skills you'll demonstrate.
Each one shows up on your verified credential.
- Figma
Work with variables, component properties, and interactive prototyping at production level.
- Interactive Prototyping
Create prototypes designed for usability testing, not just demos.
- Design Systems
Build and enforce design tokens across multi-screen flows — the same architecture product teams use.
- Usability Testing
Plan and run usability tests to validate designs with real users.
- Design Tokens
Apply design tokens to solve real industry problems and demonstrate production-level capability.
- Microinteractions
Apply microinteractions to solve real industry problems and demonstrate production-level capability.
