Ship an Engineering-Health Dashboard for an 18-Team Org. Advanced challenge in code. Writing production code that solves real engineering problems, earn a bl...
The Brief
What you'll do, and what you'll demonstrate.
An 18-team engineering organization has no consistent, automatically refreshed view of how fast and how safely it ships, or how its developers are doing, and needs one that informs improvement without being misused to rank teams.
This is not a coding exercise. It is the work a software engineer does between a Jira ticket and a merged PR. That distinction matters to every hiring manager who has seen candidates solve LeetCode problems and none who have shipped production code under real constraints.
When you finish, you will have something most graduates do not: a real-world deliverable, verified by Ewance, that you can show to a hiring manager and say "I did this. Here is the proof."
Earning criteria — what you'll demonstrate
- Translate raw delivery, planning, and incident data into a coherent, well-defined set of engineering-health metrics
- Build a small, repeatable data pipeline that joins multiple source extracts and lands trustworthy tables
- Design role-aware dashboard views that serve both engineering managers and an executive audience
- Apply DORA and SPACE thinking critically, including the limits and caveats of each metric
- Design process guardrails that prevent metrics from being misused to rank teams or individuals

Careers
Career paths this challenge builds toward
Completing this challenge demonstrates skills that transfer directly to these roles:
Platform / Developer Productivity Engineer
This challenge mirrors the core platform-team mandate of turning scattered engineering data into one trusted internal product, giving you a portfolio pipeline and dashboard that prove you can measure and improve how an org ships software.

- dashboard-design
Engineering Effectiveness Analyst
Defining a rigorous metric catalog and applying DORA and SPACE correctly is exactly the analytical work effectiveness teams do, and the guardrails you design show you understand the human side of measurement, not just the math.

Internal Tooling / Developer-Experience Engineer
Shipping a dashboard that pilot teams adopt without coaching demonstrates the product-minded, process-aware engineering that developer-experience roles require to land tooling that people actually use.
