Skill gap analysis

Industry

Sometimes spelled skills-gap analysis. Distinct from a skills audit by the focus on the gap, not the inventory.

Skill gap analysis is the structured comparison between the skills a person or workforce currently has and the skills required for a target role or strategic capability. The output is a ranked list of gaps — which skills matter most, which are most lacking, and what closing each would take in time and resources.

For an individual learner, the practical version is a target-role-shaped analysis: pick the role, list the verifiable skills required, list what you can demonstrate, identify the gap, plan how to close it. For a workforce-development context, the analysis runs across cohorts and is used to plan training, hiring, and partnerships.

On Ewance

Ewance is structured to close skill gaps directly: a student identifies the skills required for their target role, picks challenges in the catalogue calibrated to those skills, ships work that demonstrates the skills, and accumulates verifiable credentials. The challenge catalogue maps cleanly to the gap analysis output for common early-career roles.
